Home Visitation for First-Time Parents
Parent Connection's Home Visitation Program is an early learning program designed for first-time parents and their baby. Program staff strive to ease the transition into parenthood by providing personalized home visits that include:
Parenting information
Child development information
Constructive play ideas
Developmental screenings
A resource network that links families to other community services
Parent Connection offers additional services to first-time parents including phone consultation, parenting newsletters, playgroups, and a community resource guide.
Who can participate?
The Parent Connection program is open to all first-time parents in Winnebago and Outagamie Counties, as well as parts of Calumet County.
How much does the program cost?
The program is funded through grants which allow families to receive all services for free. Donations are also accepted.
How will my family benefit?
As a parent, you are your child’s first and most influential teacher. Parent Connection’s certified staff can help you lay a strong foundation for your child’s future success. By understanding what to expect at each stage of development, parents can easily capture the teachable moments in everyday life to enhance their child’s language development, intellectual growth, social development and motor skills.
What can I expect during home visits?
Initial visits are devoted to building rapport and answering any immediate questions about your baby’s development. Ongoing visits will continue to address concerns about the infant’s health and well-being, assessing family needs, and providing any additional assistance that may be requested. Activities and home-made toys are demonstrated for parents to share with their children to enhance their growth and development.
What type of information does the program provide?
The information parents receive includes materials on child health, cognitive development, social support networks and community resources. The program uses a combination of "Parents As Teachers" and Parent Connection curriculum, individualized to meet your family’s needs.
Who will be making the visits?
Our Family Support Specialists, trained in early childhood and brain development, will be conducting your home visits.
How do I enroll?
You and your baby deserve all the support Parent Connection has to offer. Give your child the best possible start in life. For additional information or to enroll in the program, call the Parent Connection office in your area.
