Having a baby can be both exciting and challenging. The Welcome Baby Program was developed to make this time easier for you and your family.
All families are unique. Our team of dedicated Family Resource Specialists offer parenting and family supports that are well matched to each family and each parent’s needs. Services can include referrals to housing, food pantries, WIC, child care, parenting classes and home visitation services.
Our ultimate goal is to ensure that all children living in Brown County are safe, healthy and ready for Kindergarten, and that parents are supported and connected to community resources if needed.
A Family Resource Specialist will meet with you during your pregnancy, at the hospital after you baby is born, or in your home shortly after birth. Together, you will decide what kind of information, support and services will be most helpful to you and your family.
A Welcome Baby packet will be given to all parents who give birth in Brown County following the birth of their child. Inside this packet you will find important educational information about postpartum depression, shaken baby syndrome, child development, child care resources, tips for bonding with baby, as well as answers to questions about infant care. Each packet also contains connections to community resources that are designed to support and serve families.
All parents who give birth in Brown County are eligible for services from the Welcome Baby Program. The program partners with an array of providers and services throughout the community. All services are free and voluntary.
Funding for the Welcome Baby Program in Brown County comes in part from Bellin Health, Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), and Aurora hospital systems as well as from the Federal Maternal, Infant, Early Childhood Home Visiting (MEICHV) Grant.
The program also receives various other private donations that help make our services possible.
