The following volunteer opportunities are available at Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin. Please complete the interest form at the bottom of this page to apply.
Program Description: The Coming Home Project is a community-based, after-school and summer program that promotes positive self-esteem, good decision making, and positive peer relationships. The program targets minority youth and offers educational support, recreational activities, and opportunities for creative expression, including t-shirt printing. Family Services currently operates a Southeast Asian site and a Hispanic site, though youth of any nationality are welcome to attend.
Volunteer Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age.
Volunteer Duties: Volunteers may assist in tutoring, recreational activities, community service, supervision of field trips, or the running of process groups. Volunteers have the flexibility to participate in the activities that interest them.
Volunteer commitment hours: Minimum time commitment is 3 hours a week (one day per week). Hours of operation are September through May: 2:30 - 7:00 pm and June through August: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Program Description: Parent Connection supports families in the Fox Valley and Oshkosh areas by providing educational workshops, family fun events, a home visitation program for first-time parents, a mentoring program for teen parents, dads programs, and more.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Advisory Board Member (Oshkosh): Serve as an advisory board member to assist the Oshkosh office with marketing, special events planning, and fund development. Monthly lunch hour meetings with a one year commitment requested.
Child Care Workers (Fox Valley): Care for and play with children (ages infant to 11 years) while their parents participate in workshops. Typically weeknights, occasional weekday mornings. This is a paid position.
Family Fun Event Volunteer (Fox Valley & Oshkosh): Assist staff with games and crafts on the day of the event. May also include children’s activities, serving food, and/or registering families. Events are typically held in March, June and September. Sign up for as many or as few events as you'd like. Visit our family fun events page for more information.
Playgroup Facilitator (Appleton): Commit to three hours per week facilitating a play group for parents and children, ages infant to age five.
Resource Library Assistant (Menasha): Organize and catalog books, videos, toys, and tapes for resource library; manage a check-out/check-in system. One to two hours per week.
Teen Parent Mentor (Fox Valley): Be a mentor to a teen parent, male or female. Click here for more information about our Teen Mentor program.
Workshop Registrar (Fox Valley): Assist facilitators on first day of workshop signing people in, setting up meeting room and organizing child care workers. Dates and times vary - usually evenings, approximately one hour per week.
Volunteer Commitment Hours: Varies by role.
Program Description: The mission of the Safe Exchange Program is to provide a neutral, child friendly environment to bring about the physical transfer of children without contact between their placement and non-placement parents whereby the children will be assured a safe exchange free from parental conflict and violence.
Volunteer Requirements: Prefer college students enrolled in a Human Services program or related field. Some experience working with families and children is required. Must be 18 years or older.
Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will help provide a neutral and safe environment for children during the physical transfer of the child without contact between parents.
Volunteer Commitment Hours: No specific amount required.
Program Description: The Sexual Assault Center provides advocacy, support and information to victims of sexual assault/abuse and their families and/or friends. These services are provided in Brown, Door, Oconto, and Marinette Counties.
Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. No experience necessary, will train. Access to transportation needed.
Volunteer Duties: Volunteers assist in maintaining the 24-hour coverage of the Sexual Assault Center hotline, provide information and referrals to callers, respond to requests for advocates while on call, provide legal, medical and emotional support to victims and their friends/families.
Volunteer Commitment hours: Volunteers staff the 24-hour hotline at least 2 times per month according to their own availability and agree to remain a volunteer for a minimum of one year.
