  • Love & Logic ®
    (For Parents of Children 3-12 Years)

    Effective communication, choices and consequences are the cornerstones of this interactive, three-session series. Learn techniques of creating a happy family with responsible kids!

  • Baby Basics
    (For New & Expectant Dads)

    Learn about handling, feeding, burping, changing, cleaning and calming a newborn infant; what to expect in the coming months; and how fathers are critical to enhancing their child's future.

  • Managing Meltdowns
    (For Parents of Children 5 and under)

    Of all the behavioral problems parents face from their children, meltdowns (also known as tantrums) may be the most upsetting and hardest to manage. This one-night workshop will help parents regain control. We will discuss the three main causes of tantrums and learn a four-step process for meltdown management.

  • Two Homes, No Battles
    (For Divorced or Separated Parents)

    This one-night workshop for divorcing, separating, custodial, and non-custodial parents and family members who are co-parenting. Discover practical ideas and skills to create a more nurturing environment during this transition.

  • Raising Boys
    (For Parents of boys 3-12 Years)

    This two-night workshop will help parents raise their special and unique boys! We will explore gender differences in brain development, discipline, ways to connect with your son, learning styles, reasons for school issues and what boys need to thrive.

TIPS Series

Topics to Improve Parenting Skills are offered to parents of children 12 and younger. TIPS sessions are completely free and free child care is also available with pre-registration. Join other parents to learn about a variety of parenting topics (*topics are subject to change).

  • Anger Management for Parents
    Our children bring us incredible joy. Yet, there are times that we find ourselves frustrated or angry with those we love. Learn how to manage anger to improve your relationships. Learn the five stages of anger and the top ten anger producers. Get to know your own anger and anger style, and how to manage your anger to create a more harmonious home!

  • Traits of Strong, Healthy Families
    Despite the stress and troubles families face, there are ways to keep families strong. This workshop presents information on the healthy and unhealthy traits of a family, the function and roles of families, and the characteristics of strong families. Find out traits of healthy families, and hints and tips to strengthen it.

  • Preventing Power Struggles
    It’s easy to slip into a power struggle with your child over small and large issues! Power struggles can create distance and hostility in the home. In this workshop, parents will learn how to build trust while maintaining a safe learning environment, how to avoid power struggles all together, how to set reasonable limits and expectations, and how to use routines and schedules to minimize struggles in the home.

  • Autism 101
    Join us for a discussion on what autism is, what it is not, dealing with behaviors in a positive way, common characteristics of individuals with autism, and resources for parents. Bring your questions for Diane — she is a great resource in the Fox Valley to answer them!
