New Beginnings
New Beginnings is a federally funded program that provides transitional housing and support services to women who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, due to domestic violence and/or sexual assault. The program provides housing stability and case management services to women in need.
To participate in the program, individuals/ families must:
Reside in Brown County
Be receiving services at Golden House or Family Services’ Sexual Assault Center
Agree to follow the terms of their lease
Meet with their assigned Case Manager on a weekly basis
Agree to maintain a violence free home
Develop a safety plan
Be willing/able to pay their monthly rent
Services of the New Beginnings program may include:
Assessment
Individualized case planning
Goal development
Safety and transition planning
Intensive case management
Advocacy services
Educational planning
Employability skills training
Referrals to community resources
Rental, transportation, and/or child care assistance as needed
Parenting and child development information
Sexual assault and domestic violence support services
Program Goals
The primary goal of the program is to prevent re-victimization of domestic abuse and sexual assault victims. The program also strives to help women secure safe, stable and permanent housing, and strengthen their economic self-sufficiency.

The New Beginnings program is funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). All services are provided at no cost to the participant.
