to Work
Brown,
Sheboygan, and Manitowoc Counties
Family Services’ Windows to Work program provides inmates and parolees from the Oshkosh Correctional Institution with education, support and other case management services. It is a voluntary program designed to assist parolees in making a successful transition into the communities of Brown, Manitowoc and Sheboygan
Counties. The program’s case managers serve as the client’s advocate, working with their parole agent and other correctional personnel to get on track and start a new life.
Clients of the Windows to Work program receive services beginning six to nine months prior to their
release. Follow-up services are also provided for up to one year after release to ensure long-term success. Emergency funding is available through the program to assist with rent and utility start-up, determined on a case-by-case
basis.
Education and case management services include:

Release Planning

Employability skills training such as resume writing, job search plans, and
interview techniques

Interpersonal/social skills training
w
Employment law
w
Information on setting and obtaining goals
w
Budgeting and money management
w
RentSmart information
w
Parenting information and techniques
Counseling
services are also provided as needed to assist with addiction issues, anger management, and increasing self-esteem.
Admission Criteria:
Inmates housed at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution and being released to Brown, Manitowoc or Sheboygan Counties are eligible for services.
Length of
Service:
Services are provided for six to nine months prior to release and up to one year after. The same case manager works with the client during the entire duration of services.
Funding Source:
Windows
to Work is funded through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and the Bay Area Workforce Development Board through
the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA).
Services are provided free of charge.
