Volunteers In Probation (VIP)

Brown County

The Brown County Volunteers in Probation program provides services to adults who have committed a first-time misdemeanor offense. By using volunteer mentors and case management, VIP offers a means for early intervention that prevents the client from becoming more deeply entrenched in the criminal justice system.

The primary mission of Volunteers in Probation is to give program participants the opportunity to develop a healthy lifestyle that reinforces making positive choices and leading productive lives within the guidelines of the law. By connecting participants with a volunteer mentor, the number of repeat offenses is reduced significantly. A positive role model assists the participant by:

      -  Helping with the problems that led to his/her offense.

      -  Offering alternatives for a healthy, more positive lifestyle.
      -  Being a friend - someone who is honest, open, and accepting.
      -  Developing a connection to a more responsible lifestyle within the community.

VIP volunteers meet with participants three to five hours per month to discuss the participants’ problems, progress, and plans for the future. They also provide general guidance and supervision of the participants' activities. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer mentor, visit our volunteer page for program requirements and additional information.

The Volunteers in Probation program is located at 3030 Curry Lane, Green Bay. For more information, contact VIP staff at
