In-Home Counseling

Green Bay, the Fox Valley, and Door County
The
In-Home Counseling program provides intensive counseling services to
children, adolescents, and their families for
the purpose of
early intervention and avoiding out-of-home placements.
Common issues addressed include:
- Anger Management
- Anxiety and
Depression
- Alcohol and Drug Abuse
- Child Discipline Techniques
- Couples Conflicts
- Delinquent behaviors such as violence, gang
activity, etc.
- Grief and Loss
- Improving School Attendance
- Parent/Child Conflicts
We believe that families have the ability to grow
and overcome
difficulties. Therefore, we recognize and use the family’s existing
strengths and resources by involving the family as a partner in the
decision-making and goal-setting process.
Goals
of In-Home treatment include:
- Supporting
parents to be in charge.
- Improving
parent/child interaction and communication.
- Helping
parents establish rules, rewards and consequences and learn effective
discipline techniques.
- Supporting families in a collaborative
manner so family members can remain together in a healthy way.
Summary
of Services:
- Meetings
are held in the home.
- Sessions
may include whatever combination of members the family feels is important to
achieve their goals.
- Length
of treatment structured to family’s needs.
- Collaboration
with other professionals and services that impact the family’s life such
as doctors, teachers, or social workers.
Admission
Criteria:
Generally,
a family with a child between the ages of 5 and 21 who is showing behavioral
concerns. Admission criteria may vary to some degree with the funding source and will be discussed with the
contact person.
Referral
Process:
Referrals
can be made by professionals or from the family itself. In-home Counseling
staff will screen referrals to determine if they meet program criteria.
