Coming Home
Project
Serves
the Green Bay area
The
Coming Home Project is a community-based after school and summer program that promotes
positive self-esteem, good decision-making, and positive peer relationships
while empowering youth to lead healthy
and
productive lives. At the Coming Home Project,
we see youth as our inspiration and as an asset to the community. In
2006,
we served nearly 500 local children and
youth in the Green Bay area.
In
addition to the recreational activities provided, staff
members also provide one-on-one
services
to youth affiliated with gangs as well as group activities designed
to
divert youth from further gang activity.
Program
Components:
Outreach: Programming is
offered in a community setting to provide easy access for all youth
Service:
The Coming Home
Project encourages youth to serve others through community service projects
and after school activities.
Creativity:
Program staff
provide opportunities for participating youth to be creative through
screen-printing, web site development, and other similar projects.
Employment:
Program staff search for job opportunities for youth and work with them
on developing interviewing skills and
completing job applications.
Admission

The
majority of youth served in the Coming Home Project are Southeast Asian or
Latino/Hispanic; however, any youth between the ages of 6 and 21 are
